Requirements for Membership of the AGS

Classes of Membership

Member
A sole trader, company, partnership, government body or sub-division of such an organisation, employing at least one full-time Practitioner (see definition below), who has a minimum of 5 year’s additional experience at senior level. (The Member must provide a relevant service as a contractor, laboratory or consultant)

Affiliate
A sole trader, company, partnership, government body or sub-division of such an organisation, providing a service to the Members or receiving a service from them, but not employing any Practitioners.
Examples that may qualify for Affiliate membership include insurers, law firms, technical clients and software houses, training companies or equipment suppliers. 

Personal Member
An academic or retired Practitioner who fully supports the aims of AGS

Definition of Practitioner for the purposes of AGS membership

A Practitioner is someone actively practising in geotechnical or geoenvironmental engineering who meets one or more of the following minimum criteria:

A RoGEP – professional grade OR

Chartered (as MICE, CGeol, MIMM, CChem etc.) OR

15 years’ relevant experience.
